Granada’s aviation expertise is in high demand

The recent installation of an additional two GMH overhead aero engine handlers at one client’s premises continues a successful year in aviation for Granada.

For this latest contract, Granada specified and installed aero handlers to facilitate maintenance and to help disassembly and assembly of engines, horizontally and at varying heights.

Each Granada aero engine handler has a SWL of 10000KG, exceeding the client’s specific requirements. The overhead stands are equipped with hoists and spreader beams to transfer ancillary engine parts into and out of the engine bay, and the engine handlers are moved up and down by remote control, for ease-of-use.

Granada’s aero engine handler system uses recirculating ball screw jacks for hoisting and lowering, with secondary brakes on each screw. These make it easier for aviation engineers to work at a comfortable height, while maintaining operator safety. Safety is further enhanced through the GMH safety mechanism which ensures that, while the engine fan is being fitted, the engine assembly cannot be lowered into the floor.

With continued growth in the aviation sector forecast for 2018, Richard Lewis comments,
“Granada’s expertise in aviation handling systems has long been recognised and we’re proud to work with some of the biggest names in the industry. We’re delighted with the feedback we’re getting from our aviation clients – this is down to the first-rate team we have at Granada. Our plans for continued growth in this sector reflect their efforts, expertise and their commitment.”
